Energy Efficient Features

Sky rocketing fuel prices and environmental issues have made energy efficiency a top headline in newspapers. The pressing question is what are you doing to conserve and save? At United Window and Door it's the same thing we having been doing since our inception, offering energy saving options that are time tested and proven to work.

The major components of any window are the sash and frame. United Window's frames are fusion welded on a multipoint welding system to guarantee true square and minimal air infiltration. The vinyl lineals of our sashes under go the same fusion welding process for strength and durability.

For maximum performance and energy savings we've invested heavily in the best glass technology, from raw materials to machinery. We're pleased to provide state of the art Solarban60 Low-E glass, warm edge Intercept Spacers and Argon gas.

Every window is backed by NFRC testing that meets or exceeds EnergyStar Standards with Low-E glass.

  Intercept Spacer™

Intercept Spacers™flex with the insulated glass unit, preventing seal failures that compromise the energy efficiency and fuel saving quality of your window.

Intercept Structural Advantage

Quad-Corners provide four layers of protection, keeping your Argon gas in your insulated glass unit to boost performance.

The Most Efficient Low-E Glass

Solarban60 is the most efficient Low - E Glass available today. If you look at the two charts below you will see that in the pyrolytic Low-E all the material that is used to make up the coating is mixed together and applied to the glass at one time. The material in Solarban60 is applied in eight different layers. This is called staking. By stacking the right quantity of material in each layer PPG is able to ensure the maximum heat reflection for thermal efficiency.

The easiest way to describe how Solarban60 works is that it reflects heat back to its original source. In the winter that means that it reflects 96% of the heat back into the room keeping the glass warm on those cold winter nights. In the summer it keeps out 64% of the heat from the sun. In both cases this will help to reduce your energy costs. Solarban60 reflects 84% of the sun's ultraviolet rays that are responsible for interior color fading.
